For Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008, and Windows 7
Important: Any other anti-virus software (Norton, AVAST, etc.) should be removed before installing
VirusScan. While uninstalling earlier versions of VirusScan is not required, UNH IT recommends you uninstall previous versions and reboot your computer before installing VSE
8.7.
Find the VSCAN87.exe file on your desktop and double-click the downloaded file to start the installer.
You may be prompted with a window asking you to remove Windows Defender. Click NO.
At the McAfee VirusScan Enterprise Setup screen, click Next.
At the McAfee Licensing screen, spill down the choices under the 'License Expiry Type' and select the Perpetual licensing option. Then select the 'I
Accept' radio button at the bottom of the screen, and click OK.
If you are presented with a Previous Version Detected screen, make sure 'Preserve Settings' is unchecked and then click Next.
At the 'Select Setup Type' dialog box, leave the default radio button selected to indicate a 'Typical' installation, and then click Next.
In the 'Select Access Protection Level' dialogue box, leave the default radio button selected to indicate 'Standard Protection' and click Next.
At the 'Ready to Install' screen, click 'Install'.
Wait at the Installing McAfee VirusScan Enterprise screen while the files are installed. A status bar will be displayed so you can follow the progress of the
installation.
When the installation has completed successfully, make sure Update Now and Run On-Demand Scan are not checked. Click Finish.
A window will open urging you to restart your machine. Click OK and restart the computer.
Once restarted, the installation process is complete. While your installation is preconfigured to automatically update itself daily, UNH IT recommends you update
manually at this time by right-clicking on the VirusScan icon found in the notification area (typically lower right tool bar), and choosing 'Update Now'.
